Jackie Wen
Paper Artist
As a paper artist, Jackie finds inspiration in pushing the boundaries of paper as a medium, exploring its limitless possibilities and creating unique works that blend tradition with innovation.
“This environment of the residence sparked my creativity, inspired me to bring this vision to life through my work. I embarked on crafting a realm of Jellyfish, utilizing the Chinese intangible cultural heritage of float paint technique and hollowed-out paper cuttings to embody both the delicacy and strength of my subject. The experience was transformative, allowing me to explore new dimensions of artistic expression while connecting with my cultural heritage.”

Jackie Wen's Artist In Residence Journey

"Breakthrough, is not only an imagination, but also a self remolding."
White Skin is the ancient Chinese name for Jellyfish, and it has become a signature element in my art creations. During my stay at K11 ARTUS, I found myself captivated by the magnificent view of Victoria Dockside. The ever-changing interplay of light on the water’s surface seemed to mimic the fluid, ethereal nature of jellyfish. The architectural design of the wave-shaped terrace resonated deeply with this theme, as its curves and flow mirrored the gentle undulations of the ocean.
